That Mk4 parked in front of my house. Kids at this school cannot park.

and dis why you cant get a driving license till you’re 18 where i live :p

I fully promote those standards as well as making it a course in high schools.

I really doubt it helps much. Inexperienced drivers suck because they are inexperienced, and that’ s going to be the same whether you start at 16, 18, or 22.
More training and stricter licensing can help though.

schools over here spend time on how to be a safe cyclist.... i think high schools should spend time on how to be a safe driver.
they wont tho.... its against school rules to teach shit that will be aplicable in the real world
(other than math and languages)

it’s a curb, not a hellworthy trespass

shitty drivers be shitty.... but 16 year olds are more prone to dumb shit than 18 year olds (only slightly in the case of males)

Happens all the time in my neighborhood. When one of the neighbors has a garage sale, I have to make sure people don’t park halfway into my yard. The street is narrow enough that only three vehicles can pass side by side , so they feel like they have to make extra space by parking in people’s yards.

spoken like someone that cant park.

The fatal crash rate for 16-19 year olds is three times higher than 20+ ages.
But I agree with you, people need to learn, but limitations need to be applied on underage licenses .

Right because they are inexperienced.
If you raised the driving age, I’m sure you’d see those early 20 numbers increase as well.

Sorry, your projection doesn’t work here. Whose foot did you park on?

There’s two factors, really.
There’s youthful indiscretion, and there’s inexperience.
Increasing the age removes youthful indiscretion as a factor. (However, interestingly, it can make inexperience worse , due to reduced brain plasticity.)
The real way to do things is probably to start training children how to handle the rules of the road at a younger age (to take advantage of the increased brain plasticity), but don’t put them in actual cars until an older age.
Note that European models have support for some of this - some countries have bicycle training for children the moment they enter school, then you have licenses like AM (moped) and B1 (heavy quadricycle - basically, think 50-55 mph top speed, extremely light vehicles ) available at 16 (sometimes as young as 14 for AM).

me bossmans.... then i got sacked.... but thats besides the point.. we were talking about how you cant park :p

A bunch of people in my neighborhood deliberately park half on the sidewalk...generally the same assholes who speed down our residential streets and they don’t want people like them hitting their street- parked cars.
![]() 09/01/2018 at 16:05 |

Which is why I agree with you, but young (underage) drivers shouldn’t drive at night, in the snow, or on highway

And still, Spanish drivers are the scurge of the earth

Hey now, when I hop a wheel up on the curb, it’s
intentional
!
![]() 09/01/2018 at 17:08 |

yeah - we have those smoother curbs and wide sidewalks in our neighborhood but really narrow streets, so everybody just puts the right side up on the curb, ( which honestly is fine by me given the situation.) Just don’t be a goof and park in front of my driveway or garbage cans on garbage day...

Probably still better than the schools here in the Midwest.

probably... tbh education over here in the netherlands is pretty good
if you’re not an idiot and drop out at 16 like me

Our sidewalks are only 2 feet wide and nearly unusable already. Throw a front wheel on it and the mirror is going to take up enough of it that I walk the dog in the street to get by.

still doesn’t mean shit though

I see nothing wrong with im this. I’d rather this than some one parking a foot away from the crib
